Typing in Depth

Opening Lessons

In this article, we'll take a closer look at the typing page. When a student logs in to Candle, he/she will see a list of all the typing lessons that are in progress or completed. Completed lessons will be highlighted in green.

Editing Lessons

Editor LayoutAt the top, is the student's username and the ability to log out. In the center is the lesson being typed, with a header automatically generated across the top. On the right, is the typing control bar. This bar provides various lesson controls along with a quiet timer.


Lesson

On the right are four main action buttons.

  • Save - Saves the lesson in it's current state and returns to the main screen.
  • Mark Completed-Saves the lesson in its current state and marks it completed.
  • Print-Prints the lesson.
  • Cancel-Cancels changes to the lesson and returns to the home page.

Timer

The timer can be modified by clicking into the timer box and typing the desired time amount. You can also use the shortcut buttons below to quickly set the timer to 1 or 2 minutes, respectively. Click Start to begin the timer, and Clear to restart the timer. If you'd like the timer to start when you begin typing, click Auto Start. The timer will begin ticking down when typing begins.

When the timer expires, you will see a message like below:

Click OK to return to the lesson or Save to save and return to the main screen.

Notes:

Upon returning to the lesson after a Save, the typing pages will paginate nicely.
