Manually Setting DNS

Sometimes, your upstream service provider (be it a LAN router, or a WAN cache) will cache DNS information, and will not properly update even if the mainstream DNS records are correct. In this case, temporary DNS settings can be made on your PC to accomodate this.

For Windows

  1. Click Start
  2. Type in notepad. When it appears, right click it and hit Run as Administrator
  3. After it's opened, click File, then Open
  4. Click on the address bar at the top, to turn it into text, then paste in this, and hit enter:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Click on the hosts file and then click Open.
Add this line at the very bottom of the file:

67.28.78.34 your.school.domain
⚠️
Did you replace your.school.domain with your actual school's website? For example, mtaetna.candle.school
Finally, press Ctrl + S to save it.
